DIY Motorhome Construction

The various stages of do-it-yourself build a motorhome

People often fall into the “dream trap” of thinking that building a motorhome is as simple as buying an old bus, removing a few seats, screwing in some cupboards and a bed, fitting a gas cooker, hanging a few curtains, and you ready for the road!

This is true to an extent. That is, if you are happy with a “school bus” with curtains, a port-a-potti, a butane gas burner, a water bottle, and prefab cupboards, that actually still looks like a school bus inside and out!

In the following pages in this section,(Left Menu) we outline step by step the things that we did during the construction of our DIY Motorhome.

Remember that we had decided to preserve the exterior appearance of our bus, so that it would remain identifiable as a Swift, so that meant the windows were to stay!

Here is the floor-plan we decided on.
