Steps and stairs for access to a motorhome
About 3 days into the build, we got sick and tired of clambering up and down a step ladder to access the insides.
Priorities were changed and a staircase became an absolute must. Bruised shins and several falls sent us off to the steel merchants for a few purchases.
Weight and portability were an issue, with another factor rearing it’s ugly head. Where to store the steps when travelling. I didn’t want to slide them underneath the body, as that area was already tasked for a large toolbox, but seeing as our doorway was so wide, the obvious option was to simply slide the staircase inside the motorhome while travelling.

The steps were folded from 2.5mm steel checker-plate by the steel merchant for no extra cost.
The sides were fabricated from 2 pieces of 2mm 25×100 RHS box section, and the whole lot was welded together for maximum durability and stability. Nothing worse than ricketty or slippery stairs.
Now elderly and people with disabilities have problems traversing standard stair cases with standard tread spacing, so we added an extra step into the equation, and this makes it so easy for limpers and small children. It tricks the dog up though, as small dogs that are used to normal house stairs suddenly find themself out of rhythm or synch with the extra step.
Later we added a hand rail, and a center bolt attachement to the pantech body, to allow for fluctuations in terrain when camping.
