The Truck
The truck
We settled on an Isuzu NKR 585
This truck is actually rated as a diesel 5 tonner, long wheelbase, sound aluminium pantech, no rust, low kilometers, and overall very good condition.
Although an older model, this vehicle has been well maintained, regularly serviced, and has only travelled 285,000 kilometers during it’s life. It was registered, roadworthy, and had 95% tyres all round.
The body is of aluminium modular construction, with a steel rear section, originally with a rear roller door that was replaced with 2 barn doors at a later date.

After purchasing the truck in Tamworth, it was driven back to QLD without any problems, other than a few rattles and squeeks in the passenger door. She died dramatically up the Moonbi range as was to be expected of a little 3.3 litre engine, so I gave her a good dose of injector cleaner fuel additive, and noticed a difference within the next 10 or so kilometers, holding 5th gear all the way up to Warwick and on.

The rattles have been adjusted, and the truck was fully serviced in a workshop. The attending mechanic commented on the exceptional condition of the mechanicals and the truck as a whole, so let’s hope.
